Posted on Feb 28, 2017Whoa. Not Yet! Ok so you’ve made great progress on your planning for the year. Ready to put the plan into action – right? Not quite … Did you remember to ask your members for their comments, thoughts and suggestions?
Who is the plan for?
You are creating a plan to accomplish certain things for your association, specifically for your members. Shouldn’t you check with them before acting?
More is a good thing
The more people that get a chance to think about something and contribute their thoughts, the better the outcome.
Quick and Easy
It can be as easy as making the draft plans available to your members and sending out an electronic survey to them. Create a few specific survey questions as well as a section for general comments.
We Know What We are Doing
Ok you are confident that your plan is perfect. It is exactly what your members want. Why should you still ask your members? Because it will make them feel important and will make them receptive to the plan and the outcome.
Not Quick and Easy?
Well it should be. You should be able to quickly create an online survey. You then send out an email to each of your members with their personalized link to the survey. The member clicks on the link in the email, fills in the survey and you view everyone’s input via a summary report produced automatically.
One more thing ...
You can never have too many volunteers. As your members read and comment on your plans it is very possible that they will become quite interested in the various projects … perhaps even interested enough to volunteer!
